First-annual GigaOM Structure:Europe 2012 will take place October 16-17 in Amsterdam with visionary speakers from Amazon, Terremark, Flexiant, DataSift, Telx, Paremus, and more to headline

San Francisco, CA, April 17, 2012 – GigaOM, a leading business and technology media company, today announced it will host Structure, its flagship cloud conference, in Europe for the first time. GigaOm Structure:Europe 2012 will take place October 16-17 in Amsterdam, bringing together hundreds of global innovators shaping the future of computing.

Visionary speakers are already lining up to take the stage at Structure:Europe. Headliners include Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon; Tony Lucas, founder of Flexiant; Nick Halstead, founder and CTO of DataSift; Joe Wienman, CTO of Telx; Richard Nicholson, CEO and Founder of Paremus; Nelson Fonseca, president of Terremark; James Mitchell, CEO and founder of Strategic Blue; Robert Jenkins, CTO of CloudSigma; and JP Rangaswami, Chief Scientist at SalesForce. More speakers will soon be announced, and pre-registration is now open.

“It’s about time we brought Structure to Europe, which leads in many of the core technologies being impacted by cloud computing, such as mobile, broadband and communications infrastructure,” said Bobbie Johnson, Europe editor for GigaOM. “A who’s-who of the European technology industry will convene alongside GigaOM editors and analysts in Amsterdam to debate the future of cloud computing and how it will impact every facet of global business and consumers’ lives.”

Now in its fifth year in the United States, Structure is the pivotal, must-attend conference for the top executives, investors, entrepreneurs and technology directors innovating, shaping and defining the cloud computing industry. GigaOM is taking Structure to Europe due to strong demand from the European tech industry for a forum where top thinkers can gather to debate the opportunities and challenges in the global cloud industry.

At the first-ever Structure:Europe, speakers and attendees will engage in interactive panels, fireside chats, and engaging roundtables to discuss how cloud computing can drive innovation in software, communications, chips, servers, networking, and other building blocks of the computing industry. Top innovators from Europe and Silicon Valley will join GigaOM editors to debate topics such as big data, PaaS, green cloud initiatives, and global regulation. GigaOM Pro analysts who cover the European cloud industry will present overviews of the hottest sectors, key trends, and opportunities to watch.

Key Themes
Some of the topics discussed at Structure:Europe will include:

European CIOs: Where do they stand on the public vs. private cloud debate?

The Telco Cloud Provider: How are European telcos becoming the biggest cloud providers?

Putting Big Data to Work: How are global businesses harnessing big data to deliver new products and improve their bottom line?

The PaaS Platform Evolution: Are developers using the right cloud platforms to scale cloud investments in cost and capacity?

Software-Defined Networking: How are new networking technologies leveraging cloud technologies to dramatically improve resiliency, security and capacity?

Next Generation CDNs: European broadband is ahead of the curve – what advances exist to transport video, big databases, and backup in the cloud?

European Regulation: What are Europe’s ministers doing to shape cloud policy and legislation?

LaunchPad
Structure:Europe will host a LaunchPad event to recognize top European startups in the cloud computing industry. The 10 best startups or major product launches will present their companies in front of an audience of VCs, angel investors, tech journalists, and other conference attendees. Startups less than 12 months old with innovative technologies powering cloud computing, internet infrastructure, or big data applications can apply online to take part in Structure:Europe Launchpad. The closing date for entries is August 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Sponsors
Some of the world’s most influential companies, including Salesforce.com, Microsoft, NetApp, VMWare, Cisco, IBM and dozens of others, have sponsored Structure events in the past. Structure:Europe is expected to sell out sponsorships at all levels. European and global technology companies that want to gain visibility among the movers-and-shakers of the cloud computing industry should contact Mike Sly at eventsales(at)gigaom(dot)com or +1 415 235 0358 to learn more about sponsorship and exhibition opportunities.
